If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team as a Classified Facility Administrator (CFA)!

 

In this position, you will ensure the secure facilities hosting classified information systems, networks, documentation, and other specialized equipment used by leading scientists and engineers remain continuously functional and compliant to government technical specifications.

 

As a CFA, your duties and responsibilities will include...

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) and Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency DCSA) information systems, security procedures including APL-specific policies, procedures, and training.
  • Maintaining situational awareness and conduct analysis of all technical programs, tasks, and staff using the facilities and what information systems, capabilities and functionality they require and communicating analysis results.
  • Oversee the facilities on a weekly basis including but not limited to verifying that 1) information systems, hardware, media, and documentation are functioning properly, present, un-tampered with, and properly marked, 2) end- of-day checklists, door sheets, and required logs are complete and up-to-date, 3) physical security mechanisms are in working order, 4) physical floor plans remain accurate, and 5) the general physical integrity of the facility.
  • Prepare and update required computing systems analysis, information systems and security documentation including DCSA Form 147, UL Certificate, Access List, Emergency Evacuation and Destruction Plan, Visitor Logs, Security POC List, and other related paperwork.
  • Provide ongoing security and information systems education to staff to include onboarding of new users.
  • Interface with the Facility Security Officer (FSO), Information System Security Manager (ISSM), Security Services Department (SECD), Information Technology Services Department (ITSD), and Business, Construction, and Facilities Department (BCFD) as needed to support walkthroughs, reviews, and assessments.
  • Work with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to develop knowledge and gain experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Risk Management Framework (RMF) implementation, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) practices and procedures, and becoming familiar with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Overseeing and maintaining combinations, alarms, and secure s to include safes and burn bags.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

    • Hold a Bachelor’ s degree in a relevant Information Assurance or Cybersecurity related field.
    • Have 1+ years of experience working in or administering a classified facility.
    • Have the ability to interact and communicate across all organizational staffing levels and stakeholders including third- party collaborators and to clearly present and convey complex technical information through both oral and written means.
    • Show evidence of independent thought and analysis in identifying cost-effective solutions that can be implemented to solve recurring problems across classified computing infrastructure and systems.
    • Have an active Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. 
    • Are able to have a physical onsite presence. The classified security nature of this position will require the selected applicant to be physically present on-site at our Laurel, Maryland campus on a regular basis with minimal opportunity to work from home. 
    • Are able to monitor and respond to e-mail, voicemail, and business communications via enterprise- issued portable communications devices. Flexibility to work non- standard business hours and to be on-call to support planned, mission critical operations. Occasional intercampus driving of department service vehicle. Occasional business travel to field offices and test sites.

 

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Working for or in direct support of the Department of Defense or other U.S. government organizations.
  • Understanding the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual(NISPOM), Risk Management Framework(RMF) implementation, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) practices and procedures, and/or the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Obtaining current DoD 8570 certification (Security+, CISSP, etc.)
  • Administering Windows and/or Linux operating systems and a working knowledge of Networking and Network infrastructure.
  • Tracking issues with JIRA or other issue and project tracking software.
