JOB SUMMARY 

The Institute for Collaboration on Health Intervention and Policy (InCHIP) at the University of Connecticut seeks qualified applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate, a full-time position. Under the direction of the Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs), Drs. Kristen Cooksey Stowers (Department of Allied Health Sciences/Rudd Center for Food Policy & Health), Jolaade Kalinowski (Department of Human Development and Family Studies), and Loneke T. Blackman Carr (Department of Nutritional Sciences), the candidate will assist in a number of ongoing internally and externally funded research projects concerning Health Equity for Black women.

The successful candidate will be a member of the research team and is expected to take a collaborative and leadership role in study implementation, data analysis, presentations, publication, grant writing, and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ph.D. in public health, public policy, nutrition, psychology, social work, sociology, or related health or behavioral disciplines,
  • Strong interest in health disparities with key populations, particularly Black communities.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills and ability to work flexibly as part of a team in a fast-paced research environment.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Prior course work and/or training in health equity, social determinants of health.
  • Strong quantitative and/or qualitative skills, research experience, and proficiency with engaging community partners/stakeholder groups.
  • Evidence of scholarship such as publications, conference presentations, and involvement in funded research.
  • APPOINTMENT TERMS 

    This position is envisioned as a full-time, 12-month position, with the possibility of renewal dependent upon the availability of funding and the candidate’s performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be consistent with NIH NRSA stipends.
