Law Affiliate Faculty (No Salary Position)- BYU Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic

Required Degree: Juris Doctor, and a member of the Utah Bar
Required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience: The applicant must have an active legal practice, with preference given to an IP practitioner with significant experience in patent prosecution and trademark protection.
Duties/Expectations: The position will:
- Teach a weekly, 75 minute in-class component of the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, which will be team taught with a full-time faculty member of the law school. The topics covered in the class are legal topics start-up and development-stage companies routinely face, such as corporate formation and governance, IP creation and protection (primarily trademarks and patents), and employment law topics.
- Oversee student work performed for clients of the clinic, with other practicing lawyers.
- Manage client intake and review.
The adjunct faculty member will not be asked to attend department meetings. She or he will be expected to spend significant time outside of class to address questions related to clinic work product and to review clinic work product. The class will be a pass / fail class.
