Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and contract negotiations across ECU and leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development and community engagement. The office directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Community Engagement & Research, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Innovation & New Ventures, Office of National Security & Industry Initiatives, Office of Licensing & Commercialization, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Research Administration, Office of Research Development, Office of Research Integrity & Compliance, Office of Undergraduate Research, and the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee. |
Job Duties | ECU Department of Research, Economic Development and Engagement is currently seeking a Air Force JROTC Flight Academy Chaperone. We expect the position to work with other Chaperones, who are responsible for ensuring youth safety, well-being and education remain the priority during the Air Force JROTC Flight Academy from May 28 through July 21. The academy involves approximately nine high school Air Force JROTC cadets aged 16-17, from around the U.S. who will reside at ECU and attend flight training at Washington-Warren Airport provided by D2 Flight Academy. |
Minimum Education/Experience | High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related childcare experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |

Special Instructions to Applicant | All chaperones MUST complete and document attending a free Stewards of Children: Darkness to Light training provided by the TEDI BEAR Children’s Advocacy Center prior to the Academy’s start date. This training usually requires 2-2.5 hours to complete, and is focused on how to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse. All Chaperones must also undergo and pass a free criminal background check prior to the Flight Academy’s start date.
