Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Director of the Food Pantry, the Food Pantry Coordinator (FPC) is a crucial member of the pantryRUN Team, supporting the pantry in fulfilling its mission to optimize the academic and personal success of Rutgers University –Newark students by providing free, healthy groceries and food resources to students challenged with food insecurity.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following.
  • Performs professional work to support the pantry which requires knowledge of food acquisition and general administrative/office management practice
  • Uses strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to be flexible
  • Responsible for all aspects of food acquisition for the client choice pantry
  • Orders food, organizes donated food collection, coordinates van and staff for delivery and shelves of food, monitors food safety issues
  • Assists in training, supervising, evaluating, scheduling and collecting time reports of work study student staff and volunteers
  • Assists in campus outreach activities and data tracking
  • Plans and attends special events
  • ·Requires early evening and weekend hours

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of food pantry

Certifications/Licenses
  • Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license and access to properly registered vehicle.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience involving food procurement and/or experience related to food pantries or social service agencies.
  • Computer literate and basic math skills. Familiar with excel, word.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to working with students and hunger related issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in learning more about food insecurity.
  • Knowledge of social media

  • Must be able to lift and move s of food weighing up to 40 pounds

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same.
