We are seeking an Incoming Visitor Control Specialist to help us in the administrative functionality of the Lab's Incoming Visitor Control Office within the Security Services Department (SECD). As a member of our team, you'll contribute to processing visitor clearances to attend classified meetings as well as vetting visitors for unclassified meetings. We are a team of engaged and hardworking Security support and professional staff members ensuring that visitor are vetted to be able to attend meetings and enter our secure facility. As an Incoming Visitor Control Specialist...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to review, troubleshoot and process incoming visit requests received via a DoD Government system, email or facsimile. Verify all Visit Requests for confirmation and resolve discrepancies with the visitor’s Security Office. Verify facility information using the National Industrial Security System (NISS). Process incoming unclassified and classified foreign person/visa holder visits, through established vetting process conducting restricted party screenings with Government agencies. Enter visit request information in Security Integrated Management System (SIMS) Database.
  • As part of the Visitor Badging Team rotation responsible for processing Visitor Picture badges you will perform background investigations, approve and create picture badges and reactivate visitor badges as needed in the Access Control System.
  • Process APL Special Meetings for outside customers by receiving and verify clearances, resolving clearance issues and generating Excel spreadsheets for the meetings. You will work closely with point of contact for the meeting, assist on meeting day and provide visitor counts of meeting attendance.
  • Additionally, assist staff in navigating the foreign national visitors approval process and provide guidance to the POC and visitor control lobby team members to prepare for their visit. Assist with VIP Visits, data entry of vetted contractor access lists and assist the other VC Team as needed.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree or 3 years of equivalent recent clerical/administrative and/or security experience.

  • Have good computer and office skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

  • Have database familiarity, entry experience and strong customer service skills.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and can interact with all levels of staff. Excellent organizational, follow through, and attention to detail skills. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing.

  • Hold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

     

     

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have familiarity with the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), DoD regulations concerning classified Visit Requests and knowledge of SIMS and the DISS Government databases.

  • Have knowledge of the Classified Foreign Visit System (FVS) and restricted party screenings.

  • Possess solid understanding of APL's culture, practices, and visitor procedures.

  • Hold an active Top Secret level clearance.
