Job Summary

Work in Office of Admissions as the initial contact for all guests to Student Services. Provide assistance to new, prospective and returning students in the areas of admission, getting started at SLCC, MySLCC setup, residency requirements, how to register, records, and navigation of the College website questions. Connect students with additional resources, as needed. Provide reception duties as well as telephone assistance in the Office of Admissions. Communicate effectively through in-person and email correspondence.

Location: Taylorville Redwood Campus- STC- 4600 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City UT

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Perform clerical functions that relate to admissions, enrollment processes, and in the following areas, including but not limited to: Providing assistance in the admissions processing, assist admission advisors with scheduling appointments, schedule for campus tours, and events, registration, records, deadlines, campus resources, SLCC systems, printing, parking permits, and residency inquires to students, faculty and staff over the telephone, in person and email. Grant access to the Lactation Room for the Student Center Building. Ability to problem solve and react quickly to student, staff and faculty questions and a busy and complex environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of SLCC policy and procedures for admission; registration; college catalog and schedule use and various student service departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a busy and complex environment
  • One year post high school education
  • Some college
  • One-year full-time office, reception, or customer service experience; experience working with confidential information; familiarity with SLCC a plus.
  • Experience in BANNER database preferred. Expert telephone etiquette. Expert customer service skills.
  • Expert in basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Strong applicants are engaging, fun, and willing to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-centered environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, (customer service, written and oral communication). Adaptable to frequent change, function well in high-stress environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
