Summary

We are seeking a full-time staff member to play a project coordinator role on several projects related to health equity, including: a) anti-racist capacity of the public health workforce, b) community-based participatory health research with Latinx residents in Southeast Michigan, c) Diversity, Equity, Inequity initiatives at the School of Public Health. The position would also include general administrative support for Dr. Fleming. Each of these applied research projects focuses on health equity. This position would be supervised by Dr. Paul Fleming. 

What You'll Do

  • Consult with faculty supervisor on research plans, objectives, and tasks to accomplish research projects. Summarize and keep detailed notes of the research process and research milestones. Maintain research documentation in Google Drive. 
  • Supervise student research assistants and support the hiring of any additional research support. Provide training and mentorship. 
  • Conduct tasks related to research projects and oversight through the institutional review board (IRB) including uploading information into related portals, designing consent forms, editing protocols, and other IRB tasks as necessary.
  • Determine ways to collect qualitative and quantitative data to meet research objectives. Create systems of recruitment, track research project budgets, conduct focus groups and interviews, collect data, and participate in data analysis and survey design. 
  • Create communications and materials promoting Dr. Fleming's portfolio including graphics, logos, and visual representations of data. 
  • Support with identifying and preparing grant applications to federal, foundations, and UM internal sponsors.

Skills You Have

  • Master's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of related experience in research including conducting literature reviews and supporting research projects.
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to community-based public health and health equity
  • Experience working directly with diverse community partners
  • Being able to work independently with professionalism and respect
  • Being able to work and contribute to a diverse research team 
  • Experience conducting qualitative research or have similar working experiences
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Have maturity, self-sufficiency, and the ability to make informed decisions independently
  • Grant writing

Underfill Statement

This position may be filled at a lower classification (associate level) depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Experience for associate level is 1-3 years with salary range of $42,500 -$52,500.
