The Clinical Research Coordinator -Technician will support the University of Michigan Cancer Genetics and Cancer Prevention research programs. Primary duties will include working with senior level CRCs assisting with recruitment and consenting of participants to an institutional registries, observational studies and clinical trials. In addition this candidate will perform data entry into multiple research and clinical databases. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required qualities.

Responsibilities*

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Independent knowledge, skills, and abilities within all 8 competency domains is expected:

  5. Study and Site Management

  • Recruit and enroll participants into clinical research studies. 
  • Track receipt of patients consent forms and research specimens; file consents and related research/medical documents appropriately.
  • Perform study coordination and regulatory tasks to support a portfolio of cancer and gastroenterology-related clinical studies.
  • Enter data into designated databases. 
  • Perform data cleaning and basic analyses.
  • Assist with a variety of other research-related tasks including preparation of presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.

Supervision Received: This position receives direct supervision and reports directly to a Faculty Principal Investigator.

Required Qualifications*

Technician Level

  • Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Minimum 1 year of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary or An advanced degree in a health-related areas such as: Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Clinical Research Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Epidemiology, Foreign MD. or Minimum 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.
  • Familiarity with general office practices, ability to understand medical documentation and general knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be willing to be a team player and be able to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills are required along with outstanding customer service skills.
  • Professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty, and staff. 
  • Able to handle data tasks with a high level of accuracy.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Assistant Level: 

  • High school diploma or GED is necessary. 

Desired Qualifications*

Technician Level: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable. 
  • An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable. 
     

Assistant Level:

  • Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.  
  • An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable. 

Work Schedule

Full-time, for hours of work between approximately 8:00AM-5:00PM M-F. Mix of remote and in-person work will be required.
