Purpose
We are looking for a Research Administrator Intermediate/Senior to support our faculty and successfully submit and procure sponsored awards. Reporting to the Research Office Lead, you will coordinate both the pre-award and post-award research and financial tasks associated with grant and contract administration. We have a varied research and sponsored activity portfolio, from a variety of government agencies, foundations, and philanthropists. We will invest in your education, training, career development and certification in the area of research administration. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are exempt.  
 

Responsibilities*

Research Administration Pre-Award

  • Help us with proposal submissions and contract execution with multiple federal and non-federal sponsors ensuring deadlines are met. Activities you would oversee include:
  • Assistant faculty to develop budgets and budget justifications following Sponsor, School and University Policies
  • Independently procure information about grant requirements for submissions from the University and/or the funding agency
  • Review and follow proposal submission guidelines
  • Prepare and maintain documents for submission packages and other communications
  • Assist us maintaining award deadlines
  • Assist and advise regarding University and School research policies including:  project budget development, accounting principles, sponsor regulations, sponsor selection, and contract terms and conditions.

Research Administration Post-Award

  • As the Single Administrative Point of Contact (SAPOC) on a variety of sponsored projects, you will oversee the following:
  • Monitor project budget activity to ensure projects are continuing as proposed with an emphasis on reconciliation and fiscal review while following appropriate accounting protocol and procedures
  • Approve expenditures within prescribed limits according to Uniform Guidance, University, and sponsor guidelines and resolve issues.
  • Arrange and process multiple requests affecting a project, such as time extensions, supplemental funds, subcontracts, subprojects, and changes in the scope of work or budgetary changes.
  • Regular communication with faculty and other staff members to ensure smooth transitions of project lifecycles

Desired Qualifications*

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years work experience in research administration
  • Be able to work independently, be self-motivated, flexible, reliable, and detail-oriented, have stellar interpersonal/organizational skills, excellent written/verbal communication skills, be a thinker and a problem solver
  • Be a highly dependable team player with a positive attitude seeking to be an integral part of the School's success  
  • Have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, and the ability to maintain and respect confidentiality 
  • Have solid computer skills and demonstrated experience in organizing and maintaining digital files and documentation
  • Have extensive experience in research administrative services and familiarity with University research administration.
  • Be able to proactively anticipate work requirements based on prior requests and instructions
  • Be a RAIN graduate or have post award budget management experience

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
