Senior Director, Office of Philanthropic Partnerships

Job Description

SENIOR DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS (OPP), Resource Development, to lead a group of frontline fundraisers who establish, implement, track, and deliver on strategies for the growth and expansion of MIT’s fundraising program and assist with volunteer management and resource allocation.  Will work with these fundraisers to identify and develop markets to engage donors to raise principal and transformational gifts; manage a portfolio of 45-50 active prospects to raise private philanthropic funds from individuals/corporations capable of making significant gifts; and lead fundraisers in meeting OPP’s overall monetary goals and specific key priorities.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree; seven years’ fundraising experience in higher education or comparable organization, especially at the principal gift level; three years’ experience supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; ability to define a vision, develop strategic plans, and lead a team toward fulfilling goals; experience developing relationships with donors/prospects, negotiating the interests of individual donors and MIT, and securing gift commitments of $5M and above; ability to inspire high-net-worth individuals to provide significant financial support and to raise donor sights, articulate aspirational goals/ideas, set priorities, and present philanthropic opportunities; experience working with and ability to garner the trust of the president, senior administrators and staff, corporation members, faculty, fellow development professionals, and other key constituents; excellent analytical, interpersonal, collaboration, and verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, PowerPoint, and fundraising databases; good judgment with confidential information; strategic approach to responsibilities and a record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning and efficient utilization of time and resources; and support for MIT’s commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Job #22203-13 

Must be able to travel with and staff the president, senior officers, and faculty on key meetings with prospects and donors approximately 20% to 30% of the time.

This position will be hybrid, with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
