Discovery Postdoctoral Fellow, NPR1 Biology

Novartis

Job Description

Job Description

1 Purpose...... to reimagine medicine. Join the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) as a Discovery Postdoctoral Fellow and contribute to unraveling one of the most important biological pathways contributing to hypertension, heart failure (HF), renal dysfunction and metabolic disease - the natriuretic peptide pathway.

NIBR is the innovation engine of Novartis. We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.

Our Heart Failure discovery team within the department of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases, in Cambridge, MA is seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented Postdoctoral Fellow to join our NPR1 program. The NPR1 signaling pathway is a fundamental contributor to hypertension and heart failure pathobiology, and drug candidates for this pathway are in clinical trials. NPR1 biology also is implicated in related indications that exacerbate HF, including chronic kidney disease, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and metabolic disease. As a Discovery Fellow, you will focus on deepening our fundamental understanding of NPR1 in one or more disease settings and carry out translational research to determine additional key indications of high unmet medical need. Multiple genetically engineered mouse models, surgical models and pharmacological tools are already available within the department. In addition, you will have access to experts across subject areas and platforms within NIBR, as well as academic experts in the field, and you will be encouraged to forge collaborations with these scientists. This is an outstanding opportunity to drive innovative, interdisciplinary research expected to be published in leading journals.

NIBR Fellows join our vibrant postdoctoral community for dedicated events, including the monthly postdoctoral seminars and our annual Research Day Symposium. All NIBR Fellows participate in our robust curriculum designed to develop scientific and professional skills. The postdoctoral term is for up to 4 years.
