Pay Grade: Professional 5
This position manages the full spectrum of career development and employability skills for diverse student and alumni populations in collaboration with faculty, staff, and employers to best support the student and alumni community.
Leads one-on-one and group career counseling (in-person and virtually) that specifically targets, anticipates, and supports students' career ideas and trajectory
Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with the college community to include prospective and enrolled students, and alumni
Collaborates with the team to plan and manage department sponsored events to include workshops, presentations, and staff/faculty professional development training
Manages relationships with faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders to collaboratively develop and implement programming that complements and supplements faculty instruction and students’ learning
Delivers and executes workshops within courses and as stand-alone events through variety of modes including in-person and online
Administers valid and reliable assessment instruments and computerized career guidance information as appropriate to assess individualized traits, personalities, strengths, abilities, values, and interests and their alignment to training, programs of study, and career opportunities?
Promotes, engages and creates a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community with students, faculty, staff, and community including advocacy of targeted outreach and inclusive programming
Manages operation of satellite Career Services offices, as assigned
Tracks and documents services provided, collaborations, and ongoing projects to identify trends, best practices, and continuously improve offerings and align with college mission
Continually assesses student, faculty, and staff needs connecting with appropriate resources (internal and external) to aid in successful career development
Represents the department and its programs internally and externally to include faculty, department, and division meetings and events
Maintains the protection of student records in accordance with FERPA regulations
Completes an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis, as appropriate
Knowledge of career development or counseling theory as it relates to working with a diverse population
Ability to use multiple media to communicate, especially in the online environment
Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, as well as web-based presentation and design platforms, and social media
Ability to create materials and content for in-person and virtual workshops
Ability to operate in a fast-paced work environment with strong organizational and prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks and projects
Flexibility and reliability to work independently and in remote teams
Ability to travel to other campus locations, and work evening and weekend events, as required
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Psychology or related field
One year of experience working in career services to include practicum or internship experiences
Experience working in a higher education setting and/or experience working with business, industry or government in training and development, experiential learning, job placement or on-the-job training
Valid driver’s license with approval required by the College’s Liability Insurance Carrier
Preferences
Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, or related fields
Experience working in a higher education setting or industry-related field
Educational background or work experience in the following majors of study: Engineering or Engineering Technology or Skilled Trades or Advanced Manufacturing.
