DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department.  Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding.  Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit.  All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

Responsibilities:

DePaul University’s Social Transformation Research Collaborative (STRC) invites applications for a one-year Post-Doctoral Humanities Fellowship, to begin July 2023.

The Fellow will be housed within the Department of African and Black Diaspora Studies. The Fellow will teach three humanities-based Black Studies courses during the academic year, cross-listed as appropriate. In addition, Fellows will be expected to contribute to the Collaborative’s discourse around its annual theme as speakers, presenters, and attendees at a Summer Institute for incoming students, an Annual Convening for the public in October 2023, and Collaborative colloquia and other events. Collaborative Fellows will also be invited to participate in bi-weekly check-ins with mentor faculty as well as quarterly professional development workshops hosted by the Collaborative.

 

The STRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship also reflects DePaul University's Vincentian mission, which includes a scholarly commitment to the areas of race, equality, social justice, and advocacy for historically oppressed and underserved populations. Fellowships are particularly designed to support diversification of the academy through structured mentoring and time for writing and scholarly activity, pedagogical development, and hands-on career experience for newly minted scholars working in fields focused on the histories and cultures of people of color.

The STRC will begin reading applications immediately, prioritizing applications in the order received. Review of applications will begin June 19, 2023.

Required Qualifications:

Eligibility is restricted to humanities scholars who have received their PhD in Comparative Race and Ethnicity Studies, Black/Africana Studies, or related Humanities fields no earlier than 2019 and who will have the PhD in hand by June 2023. Appointment will be for the academic year 2023-2024. Those applicants whose degree is in a traditional Humanities discipline should ensure their application reflects connection to the guiding ideas and concerns of Black Studies.

The Fellow will receive an academic year (10 month) salary and two months of summer compensation. DePaul will also provide a moving expenses budget, office space and modest funds for travel and research. This is a benefits-eligible position.
