Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Plan, implement, and manage all operational and administrative activities related to the UMCP/NIST Gaithersburg Professional Research Experience Program funded through a collaborative agreement with NIST.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Management of business operations including financial accounting, and travel
  • Work with appropriate payroll offices to recruit and on-board personnel, and VISA processes (J1 & H1B)
  • Coordinate entry and exit interviews of participants of program
  • Pre and Post Award administration
  • Coordinate recruitment, selection and retention of historically marginalized groups in STEM
  • Oversee advertisement of PREP opportunities
  • Coordination of meetings
  • Coordinate/compile technical reports
  • Manage program web page.
  • Serve as administrative POC for the program

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University.

Experience:
Three years of progressive responsibility in administrative tasks and financial management of grants or contracts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be results-oriented, well-organized, self-directed, and a team player who can multi-task and set priorities. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency using databases, Microsoft Office Suite and shared documents. 

Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No H1-B Visa sponsorship is offered for this position.

Preferences:

Preferences:
Experience in research administration and knowledge of uniform guidance. 
Familiarity with UMD accounting and sponsored project activities a plus.

  • This is primarily a sedentary position involving extensive viewing of computer screens.
  • Repetitive typing motions involved.
  • Verbal and written communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas and hearing is required to perceive information. Visual acuity is required to review and analyze written reports, spreadsheets, data, and figures for accuracy.
  • Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.
  • Exerting up to 10 pound’s of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
