Position description
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley under the supervision of Professor Niren Murthy is seeking an Assistant Project Scientist to design and to assist in the development of different drug delivery systems in cell culture and animal models.
The successful candidate will assist driving the discovery of novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP) based delivery technology for RNA and DNA-based therapeutics to implement strategies to address the nucleic acid delivery challenges in vivo. LNPs formulations will be tested by delivering mRNA (EGFP, luciferase, Cas9, Cre, gRNA, base editors, prime editors, etc.) and plasmids in vitro and in vivo studies. The candidate will also develop engineered RNP/LNPs formulations for editing brain tissue to target various brain diseases/disorders. These formulations will be further improved/optimized by PEGylation and peptide linkage. The candidate will also provide training to undergraduate/graduate/and postdoc candidates and assist the principal investigator in grant writing, preparing manuscripts, and presenting results at various conferences.
