Hourly range for Registered Nurses $36.10-$55.99 / hour

Responsibilities*

Scrub and circulate multi-specialty surgical cases in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Nursing responsibilities are assigned under the clinical supervision of a nursing supervisor. Coordinate and provide multi-specialty surgical population. Transfer patients as needed and prepare rooms between cases. Participate in on-going QA activities, new employee orientation, student education, collaborate with BCSC OR and PACU team for patient care, participate in problem solving efforts for the department. The ideal candidate will role model professional nursing and foster good team moral.

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. 
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current Licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent O.R. experience within the last two (2) years, including scrubbing and circulating experience.
  • Candidates must have scrubbing and circulating expertise in two or more of the following fields: Plastics, Surgical Oncology, Total Joint Orthopedics, Sports Medicine Orthopedics (total shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopy), Spine (Ortho and Neuro), Urology (pelvic reconstruction, genitourinary, erectile dysfunction, cysto/ureteroscope), and Otolaryngology (peds/adult, sinus)

Desired Qualifications*

  • Previous Ambulatory surgery experience.
  • Previous Charge Nurse Experience
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills
  • CNOR Certification or CNAMB Certification
  • BLS Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stress, conflict and resolution
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills as evidenced by recent charge nurse or service lead experience
  • Ability to meet function job requirements
  • Ability to work with both pediatric patients and adults

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 36 hours/weekShift/Hrs/Days: Days, 12 hour shifts with variable start times, rotating Saturday requirement.Location: Brighton Center for Specialty Care - Operating Room NOTE: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
