Johns Hopkins Orthopedic Biomechanics Postdoc

Job Description


A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University under the supervision of Assistant Professor Jill Middendorf. The successful candidate will use biomechanics approaches to understand pin migration in pediatric patients with humeral fractures. In addition, the candidate will be encouraged to develop clinically relevant research thrusts within the broader scope of pediatric orthopedics.
We seek a highly motivated individual with an interest in using experimental mechanics, image analysis, or computational approaches to improve the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions. The candidate will be expected to form a close working relationship with our research collaborators in the Department of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
The initial appointment will be for two years starting in July 2023, with the potential for funding to be extended for additional years. The provided start date is flexible. The position provides salary and benefits consistent with NIH postdoctoral fellows.


Qualifications:
  • PhD in engineering or a related field is required.
  • Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Prior experience in mechanics of materials research or orthopedics is preferred, but not necessary for applying.
