The Laboratory Research Analyst I for The Collective for Psychiatric Neuroengineering (CPNE) at Duke University will work in a collaborative environment alongside molecular technicians, graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and senior lab staff to execute experiments inline with study protocols and CPNE’s vision and values.

Work Performed

Aid in the cloning, ligation, storage, and inventory of bacterial plasmids for the LinCx project for engineer novel connexins.

Culture HEK cells and transfect with novel connexins to prepare for downstream assays.

Conduct FLOW Cytometry assays to quantify connexin docking to membranes of cells.

Advance research to include primary neuronal and induced neuronal cultures.

Collaborate with Electrophysiology Team to quantify current passed through novel connexins.

Develop an archive of all protocols for the lab on Benchling that integrates with other molecular technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral associates to allow for collaborative research and standardization of documentation and approaches.

Attend weekly Bioelectrode Team Meetings to work on novel approaches for augmenting electrical connections between neurons.

Train and supervise technicians on standard molecular biology protocols in the lab and update SOPs as necessary.

Request lab reagents necessary for research through Quartzy.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.


Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
