The purpose of the Upward Bound Counselor is to provide personal, academic, and career development counseling to low-income potential first generation college students by equipping participants with the necessary skills to successfully matriculate to post-secondary institutions of their choosing.

Education:
Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, student personnel or related field in human services.

Experience:

 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Specific knowledge of post-secondary educational opportunities and financial-aid.

Preferences:
Two years experience with administration of counseling assessments. Bilingual (Spanish).

Eligible for National Certified Counselor (NCC) and state licenses as professional counselor (LPC).

Sitting for extended periods of time. Viewing computer screen and keyboarding. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Some walking and driving. Some lifting of light weight boxes of college brochures and manuals. No other unusual physical activity required.
