The Office of Assessment and Accreditation ensures the quality of an NC State education for all undergraduate and graduate students. Mission
The Office of Assessment and Accreditation supports the facilitation of campuswide assessment and accreditation processes. OAA leads the academic and administrative outcomes assessment processes, and works collaboratively with university stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive external program review. OAA is responsible for leading data collection and reporting for accreditation as well as facilitating the substantive change process for the institution.

OAA guides these efforts in congruence with NC State’s expectations for continuous improvement and excellence as well as with standards for compliance with specialized accreditors and our institutional accrediting body, SACSCOC.

OAA will provide leadership and guidance in assessment and accreditation efforts to support innovative and strategic data-informed decision-making for institutional excellence.

Essential Job Duties

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Director will provide collaborative leadership in all aspects of developing, implementing, monitoring, assessing, and reporting on NC State’s NC State’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), a five-year plan to improve student success via increased access to, participation in, and tracking and assessment of high-impact learning experiences. The position will have joint reporting lines to the Associate Dean and Executive Director, Academic Enrichment Programs, Division of Academic and Student Affairs, and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.

Primary responsibilities of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Director include:
  • Coordinate QEP Implementation Team, develop and serve on the QEP Advisory Group (faculty, staff, and students), and manage other QEP working groups and committees in collaboration with the Implementation Team;
  • Oversee QEP budget, and purchasing decisions and maintain all financial files and records;
  • Hire and supervise QEP staff (e.g., program coordinator and faculty/staff liaison);
  • Curate and disseminate QEP publicity/updates;
  • Collaborate with other offices as needed, especially the Office of Faculty Excellence and Office of Assessment and Accreditation;
  • Prepare results and findings for annual institutional progress reports and a five-year QEP evaluation report to SACSCOC.

This position is intended for the current Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and will be re-evaluated upon completion. The Quality Enhancement plan has a 5-year implementation window with an evaluation process and reports at the end of that 5 years.

Minimum Education and Experience

Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Project management and data analysis experience including budgetary skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant and successful record of engagement with designing and implementing student success initiatives aimed at increasing access and participation among all students, including those from historically underrepresented groups or those who have been marginalized from participating in high-impact experiences;
  • Evidence of willingness to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with a variety of campus and community stakeholders (administrators, faculty, staff, and students);
  • Experience in higher education including familiarity or expertise in educational assessment and high-impact practices/experiential learning;
  • Experiencing supervising staff, including but not limited to assigning and monitoring work, counseling and developing employees under direct supervision, developing work plans, and conducting performance appraisals when appropriate.
