Overview

The Education Program Manager II is housed within the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care (POPC) and works directly on initiatives run through the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care (CPC). The Education Program Manager II supports the educational initiatives vital to achieving our most important goal: To help patients and their families maintain the best quality of life during and after treatment. This position works autonomously to manage large-scale, recurring programs in their entirety as well as special projects.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all elements of large-scale, recurring, and one-time only educational programs
  • Manage special projects for the CPC including but not limited to creating videos and newsletters and supporting faculty
  • Work with course directors and faculty to formulate and implement educational strategies
  • Enhance communication and transparency regarding project decisions and issues
  • Develop and manage evaluation method to access program strength and areas of improvement from participant evaluations and faculty perspectives
  • Monitor program progress against key matrix and targets to evaluate operational and financial success and intervene and adjust as necessary
  • Engage in the planning, delivery, and assessment of a portfolio of in-person, hybrid, and online programs, sessions, and events that serve medical professionals involved in providing palliative care
  • Attend to critical paths before, during, and after each program
  • Design and maintain communication materials such as website, marketing/promotional videos, marketing and curriculum documents, and social media
  • Assure deliverables are aligned across HMS CPC programs
  • Serve as an independent liaison among multiple departments at Harvard Medical School and the HMS affiliated hospitals
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and collaborative spirit, in alignment with the values of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
  • Effectively manage timelines and project plans across multiple programs
  • Point person for participants across the program life cycle
  • Responsive to faculty needs
  • Respect for medical professionals and the patients and families they serve

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • May supervise Education Program Manager I

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years relevant administrative and planning experience
  • Experience in program or event management highly preferred
  • Experience working in a medical or academic setting is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Design Suite
  • Knowledgeable of Canvas preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to show initiative, work independently and follow through
  • Ability to interact professionally with peers, leadership and external contacts
  • Ability to organize and to work in a fast-paced complex and matrixed environment
  • Ability to learn other software programs as needed
  • Familiarity with Adobe Design Suite, Canvas, and video production/editing is highly preferred
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule for conferences/events including occasional nights or weekends
