Summary of Position

Under general supervision, responsible for all warehouse operations involving receiving, warehousing, shipping, distribution of material, including loading/unloading, and storage in two warehouse locations. Responsible for organization, record keeping, stock transactions, inventory records, receipt and issuance of all warehouse materials, maintenance of warehouse vehicles and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned in support of Facilities division.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in a warehouse environment.
2. Desktop and mobile computer skills as required by the department.

4. Ability to efficiently organize, maintain and keep detailed records related to warehouse space.
6. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy lifting.

Duty/Responsibility

Receiving & Issuing:

Un-package, inspect and receive incoming materials matching, quantities, descriptions, conditions and price against the relevant purchase order.
Using the mobile tablet, locate the purchase order and record all incoming parts and making notations on any exceptions for damage, incorrect quantities or other out of the normal conditions.
Mark all incoming stock parts with the proper date and part identifier and move parts to their proper location.
Using the mobile device, fill customer orders from issue documents, checking quantities and descriptions to confirm on hand quantities and descriptions.
Report any incorrect on-hand quantities so they can be investigated and corrected.
Find locations for all new parts, identifying the new location code and entering it into FAMIS as well as adjusting all other locations that are affected by the location of the new item.
Maintain accurate receiving records and logs including recording incoming shipments with dates, carriers and quantities delivered.

Duty/Responsibility

Deliveries & Freight:

Coordinate campus delivery schedules to ensure efficient delivery of material, as well as communicating with the office on the need for pick-ups at various local vendors for materials required by the Facilities tradespeople.
Provide pickup and deliveries services and act as liaison with UPS, common carriers and campus departments in receiving freight.
Unload any campus freight that arrives at the Facilities Warehouse, determine who the freight is for, contact the proper department and help them coordinate the delivery of their freight to campus.
Assist other campus departments in preparing outgoing LTL freight shipments including banding and/or wrapping pallets, preparing the bills of lading and assisting the freight driver in loading the materials.
Properly repackage and prepare outgoing UPS & FedEx package shipments.

Duty/Responsibility

Inventory Organization:

Use the FAMIS inventory software module to check on and maintain part records, locate customer requisitions, verify and investigate on hand quantity issues and record time cards.
Maintain the BIN location system for all parts, allowing for proper space utilization, assuring there are no duplicate locations in the system.
Identify, record and print any needed shelf labels and affix them where necessary.
Effectively communicate and make recommendations regarding improvements to storage, inventory and warehouse procedures.
Help prepare for the physical inventory by preparing BIN location reports and verifying the location(s) of all parts.
Participate in the taking of physical inventory including the counting of parts, checking and verifying of discrepancies and preparing the warehouse to reopen after the the inventory finishes.
Take weekly and monthly inventory of high turnover items and items with conversions to ensure accuracy.

Duty/Responsibility

Warehouse Operations:

Organize and maintain a safe and clean warehouse and loading dock accounting for and storing tools, equipment and materials in their proper locations.
Clean and perform regular in house preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment and vehicles.
Arrange for outside repair and maintenance of vehicles and warehouse equipment.
Safely operate freight handling equipment, hand and power tools and vehicles maintaining a high degree of alertness to avoid injuries to self and others.
Maintain safety regulations and awareness in moving materials and handling hazardous materials.
Check and secure the warehouse at end of day and report any abnormalities to the supervisor.

Duty/Responsibility

Training and Guidance:

Provide direction and guidance to the warehouse assistants, prioritizing daily work assignments.
Train new warehouse employees on the use of the FAMIS desktop software as well as the Mobile FAMIS application in all areas related to the warehouse.
Train new employees on all procedures and policies related to their daily duties in the warehouse and around campus.
Assist in training the tradespeople in using their mobile tablets for ordering, picking up and inquiring about materials.
