Summary of Position

Under the general direction of the United States GLOBE Country Coordinator, the United States GLOBE Assistant Country Coordinator will manage the operational, administrative, and staff supervision of multiple grant-funded projects to advance the goals of the United States GLOBE Program; provide day-to-day technical/professional guidance and leadership and serve as liaison between the projects and the United States GLOBE Partners, the GLOBE Implementation Office, the GLOBE Program Office, and other project stakeholders. Position is dependent on continued funding from external sources.

  • Bachelor’s degree and seven years of related experience, or Masters degree and five years, or Ph.D. degree and three years related experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • Deep knowledge of the GLOBE program and its partnering organizations.
  • Passion for Earth Science education.
  • High degree of self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Office 365, OneDrive, Google Drive, USHOP, and the GLOBE website.

Duty/Responsibility

Student Research Symposia Management
  • Meet regularly with evaluation and communication teams.
  • Review applications/project documents to make decisions pertaining to the project.
  • Design and purchase supplies needed for programming.
  • Assist with budget planning and program reimbursements, maintain reports as assigned.
  • Work with communication lead to coordinate educator and Partner communications.
  • Maintain and update webpages as needed.
  • Collaborate with and support event leads in event organization.
  • Coordinate and lead as appropriate SRS leadership meetings, including designing agendas and follow through on next steps.
  • Develop program content as needed.
  • Maintain and update program databases including but not limited to: registration, funding applications, student projects, event reports.

Duty/Responsibility

Earth Around Us Program and New Hampshire GLOBE Partnership Management
  • Supervise the Earth Around Us Program Coordinator.
  • Facilitate development, procurement, and maintenance of Earth Around Us program implementation guides and materials.
  • Coordinate reporting on programming and maintain compliance with the University of New Hampshire Youth Engagement requirements.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships among educators, organizations, and subject matter experts.
  • Maintain a database of New Hampshire GLOBE educators and communicate with and support educators in implementing GLOBE as needed.

Duty/Responsibility

Partner Outreach and Management
  • Maintain a database of United States GLOBE Partners, Partnerships, and Interactions.
  • Attend all United States Partner Forum meetings.
  • Provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, and in-depth answers to Partner inquiries.
  • Collaborate with communication lead and United States GLOBE Country Coordinator on Partner communication.

Duty/Responsibility

General Project Management
  • Maintain necessary records/files in an organized and clear fashion.
  • Prepare reports and records on project activities and progress.
  • Coordinate and lead as appropriate working team meetings, including designing agendas, desired outcomes, and follow through on next steps.
  • Assist with assessments and research related to projects.

Duty/Responsibility

Special Projects
  • Serve as the main contact and resource for special projects and their activities.
  • Assist with budget planning, monitor expenditures; and maintain reports as assigned.
  • Review applications/project documents to make decisions pertaining to the projects.
  • Provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, policy interpretations and in-depth answers to project inquiries.
  • Develop project content as required.
  • Other duties as assigned and required by grant-funded projects.
