Job Summary
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow who will follow up on our published work on the dynamic regulation of secreted proteins that induce embryonic mesendoderm patterning using in vitro and in vivo models (see https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.04.25.441333).
A fully funded multi-year postdoctoral position is available (initial 12-month appointment). The start date is flexible within the next 6-12 months. Competitive salary and benefits are on the federal pay scale and a commitment of at least two years is required. The Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas is committed to world-class research and the Dingal lab has access to state-of-the-art research facilities.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D in a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience
Ideal postdoctoral candidate should have:
  • Strong backgrounds in biochemistry and genetics.
  • Knowledge and experience in protein expression and characterization, animal models (a plus).
  • Science communication skills are clear, concise, and simple.
  • Ability to develop and test methods and interpret results independently.
  • A successful record of authorship on peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties include:
  • Planning and executing experiments according to approved research protocols.
  • Establishing and optimizing new protocols for protein expression and characterization.
  • Training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
  • Documentation of experiments, manuscripts, conference abstracts, and grant writing.

Additional responsibilities and opportunities:
Opportunities to author scientific papers on signaling in animal development, methods in biochemistry and protein engineering, etc.
  • Collaborations with Dr. Morcos and Dr. Meloni to prepare grant proposals for NSF and NIH agencies.
  • Weekly lab journal club and meetings. Lab members take turns presenting their own projects and critique published articles in a collegial environment.
