Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Fellow (Population Health) in the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs at Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research.
The population health fellowship is a full-time salaried position, which provides a hands-on training opportunity in population health, working in academic, health system, community and government environments. Fellows will rotate throughout these various areas, and will also gain exposure to various programs, centers, and schools involved with population health throughout Rutgers, RBHS, our clinical partners the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System (RWJBH) and University Hospital Newark, and other community partners.
Traditional course work and professional training opportunities will be initiated based on the background of the fellow, desire for future degree attainment and individual development goals. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, Fellows will receive a certificate of completion by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
The Administrative Fellow will have to complete reading, lecture, workshop and rotation experiences in each of the Core Curriculum Content Areas, which includes: Health Policy and Systems; Population Health Management and Financing; Data, Analytics and Technology; Community Health and Social Determinants of Health; Healthcare Quality, Safety and Value; Leadership; Research, Scholarship and Publication. The curriculum will be tailored to the individual background and expertise of the candidate and the current needs of the sponsoring organizations. A significant emphasis of the program is to provide mentoring and exposure to leadership styles to prepare candidates for taking on a management and leadership role in the future.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Completes all readings, lectures, workshops, and rotation experiences within each of the Core Curriculum Content areas and provides evaluation.
  • Co-designs a series of projects for each rotation experience related to curriculum content area, the individual’s expertise and skills, and the needs of the organization.
  • Develops a communication mechanism including a website for the faculty and partners of the Population Health Fellowship Program and creates a monthly communication to the group that includes highlights of current literature reviews and upcoming events of potential interest.
  • Manages population health projects as assigned and provides written reports, presentations and other communications as appropriate for projects and on the developing organizational structure for population health within Rutgers and RWJBH to share with rotation sponsors and partners as part of the rotation process.
  • Attends, provides support for, and participates as a member of the Rutgers Population Health Consortium.
  • Contributes to the growth and improvement of the Population Health Fellowship by supporting the program’s evaluation.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of pertinent federal, state, Rutgers regulations/laws/policies as they currently exist & as they change.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Clinical degree  such as a MD, DO, RN, PharmD, DMD/DDS, PA or NP Licensure, DNP, MSW or other clinical training program must be completed before the start of the fellowship. 
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fellows with clinical work experience, Individuals with analytics or statistical programming skills and experience with electronic medical records.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to exert force up to 35 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office. The fellow would be expected to travel to various rotation sites throughout the State.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
