Job Summary

The College of Lake County is looking for a Student Support Assistant, PT Flex, to join the team in the Adult Education Enrollment Services office. The Student Support Assistant provides up to date, accurate information and assistance to students, faculty, and community. Responsible to deliver comprehensive general information regarding all aspects of college procedures, Adult Education and ESL programs and services that pertain to the enrollment process, as well as handling confidential information pertaining to our students. The Student Support Assistant will assist the Enrollment Services Specialists with intake, testing events, and reviewing student information in various databases. This position provides student support services at all campuses.

Required Qualification

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
3. Proficient computer skills (typing, emailing, conducting web searches).
4. Problem solving skills.
5. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience working with databases.
2. Ability to multitask between various computer programs and assisting students.
3. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
4. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Special Instructions Summary

- This is a part-time flex position and employment shall be on an at-will basis, the duration of which shall be in accordance with the needs of the College of Lake County.

- Part-time flex employees are not eligible to participate in any benefits program at the College, including tuition reimbursement, tuition waiver, health insurance or paid time off.

*This is a grant funded position; continued employment in this position is based on external funding sources.

$14.58/Hour

Total Hours per week

Up to 19 hours.

Work Schedule

Monday – Thursday 9 am – 1:45 pm
Monday/Wednesday at Lakeshore campus
Tuesday/Thursday at Southlake campus
(Some flexibility for evening hours; up to 19 hours per week)

Some Fridays and Saturdays may be required with advanced notice.

Summary of Essential Functions

1. Review data in DAISI, PeopleSoft, TopsPro, and STARS.
2.Proctor state approved standardized tests.
3. Assist students during registration and testing events.
4. Assist students who drop-in/intake.
5. Provide over the phone and email customer service.
6. Working from other campuses and traveling between campuses is required.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
