Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial, and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking an individual to fill the role of CSCI Student Success Advisor to assist students in accessing and completing applications, registration, and financial aid resources and requirements. This position will guide every student to choose the right educational pathway to achieve their career goals by employing labor market information and career development strategies while focusing on building academic schedules to enhance student access. The Advisor will promote SingleStop registration to enhance student access of available external support systems, and perform intrusive advising measure to increase retention and completion rates among students.

- Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field higher education
- Must be familiar with Southwest programs of study and student support service
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a team or independently
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to write/prepare reports
- Excellent time management skills with demonstrated ability to produce deliverables on time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in human services or equivalent work experience
- Higher education experience with advising or student support preferred
