Job Description:

Advise and onboard international students following procedures and policies established by the college and federal government. Respond to student inquiries and referrals regarding the F-1 visa process. Schedule appointments with students through acceptable software. Collect and maintain documentation required by SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) and maintain student files. Process and issue I-20 forms and related documents to qualified students. Perform all phases of class registration for F-1 students (add, drop, swap classes) and ensure students maintain F-1 status. Keep up with current federal regulations to ensure the college fulfills federal requirements for the maintenance of the F-1 program. Maintain the SEVIS master document for the college (I-17) by updating academic programs, college information, biennial recertifications, and additions or removals of Designated School Officials.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to maintain a positive, productive and cooperative attitude and serve as a team player. Cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with students from different countries and backgrounds. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule on campus as well as some evenings and occasional weekend hours which may be worked remotely. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check are required.
 


Preferred Qualifications:

Associate and or bachelor’s degree highly preferred. Prior advising experience at a college or university preferred. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, and Canvas preferred. Knowledge of college, VCCS and FERPA policies preferred.
