Salary: $35,600-$39,237 dependent on education and experience

Job Summary

The Recruiter/Student Success Coach assists prospective students and inform them about Northeast State, its academic programs, admission requirements, costs, and all facets of attending Northeast State. They develop and implement campus recruitment events, presentations, and maintain consistent communication with prospective students, parents, high school counselors, business and industry partners, and other community constituents. They also assist with retention efforts of the College. The position reports to the Director of Student Success at Kingsport and is an integral part of the Enrollment Team.

Job Duties

  • Inform and assist prospective students about Northeast State, academic programs, admission requirements, costs, and all facets of attending Northeast State. This includes high school visits and college fairs, answering letters of inquiry from prospective students, and maintaining constant personal communication with NeSCC area students, parents, and high school counselors, and Business and Industry leaders.
  • Support and implement applicable aspects of Northeast State’s strategic enrollment plan, which includes, but is not limited to, the enrollment of traditionally underserved or at-risk populations.
  • Maintain continuous communication with prospective and current students utilizing targeted communication plan.
  • Process recruiting and prospect paperwork; enter information to computerized database; process correspondence.
  • Develop and implement presentations to promote the benefits of the College to various constituencies, utilizing traditional formats and new technologies.
  • Serve as a student success coach providing follow up on various student success initiatives, e.g. Bear Den support, student call logs from Enrollment Services, and other retention-related initiatives.
  • Provide campus tours.
  • Operate within the parameters of federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures, most notably admissions, financial aid, and records policies and procedures.
  • Assist with open house; assist in the preparation of packets; greet and register participants.
  • Develop and implement campus recruitment events.
  • Strengthen partnerships both inside and outside the College to serve students, including with high school counselors and community partnerships.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with Regional Center for Advance Manufacturing (RCAM) and business and industry leaders to promote recruitment for ongoing programs.
  • Assist with retention efforts of the College.
  • Cross-train within the Student Services Division.
  • Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of 1 year of experience in academic/student services, public relations, or sales
Minimum of 1 year of experience in public speaking in a professional setting of small-to-large crowds
Demonstrated experience handling/managing multiple projects
Valid driver’s license and/or other ability to travel locally and regionally to off-campus sites

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Two years or more of higher education recruiting experience
One or more years of experience working with high school and/or young adult learners in a counseling or recruiting setting
One or more years of applicable experience in a business or industry setting
Experience in a student success related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
Ability to collaborate with a diverse team
Excellent organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Strong work ethic
Outstanding collaborative and motivational skills
Driven and self-motivated with the ability to work responsibly with little supervision

Additional Notes:
Large amounts of area travel are standard for this position; service region includes Washington, Sullivan, Johnson, Unicoi, and Carter Counties; travel reimbursed per Northeast State policy 04:23:00 General Travel Policies and Procedures
Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
