Job Description
The Department of Engineering and Public Policy (EPP) is a unique department in the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University which addresses important problems in technology and policy. We educate technically skilled students to be leaders in policy-focused research; we work on policy problems in which the technology matters.
Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Engineering and Public Policy is searching for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will assist the department by contributing to an exciting new program of research focused on approaches for incorporating labor skills and training potential into clean energy transition planning. The project will initially focus on the case of electric vehicle battery manufacturing, and the chosen candidate will work closely with Christophe Combermale, Valerie Karplus, and Richard Stafford and interact regularly with multiple faculty at the CMU Heinz and Engineering Colleges.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Developing original research with the project investigators on how to improve community and worker preparedness and outcomes in clean energy domains.
Working with multiple data sources, including interviews with automakers and battery. manufacturers, to describe the skills needed and examine the geographic match between available and sought skills using alternative matching algorithms
Researching semi-structured interviews and ethnographic organizational research in addition to quantitative analysis.
Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:
Strong analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in economics, management, technology policy, systems engineering, or data science
Experience with programming languages, including R, Python, LaTeX, Statistics
