Position Summary

A funded position for a postdoctoral associate is available in The Thoracic Immunobiology Laboratory at Washington University in St. Louis. Our laboratory studies transplantation immunology in small animal models. Our laboratory has developed several microsurgical techniques and intravital imaging platforms that have advanced research in transplantation. Our laboratory is federally funded and is highly productive. We have identified immune mechanisms that contribute to inflammation and tolerance after lung and heart transplantation. Our findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Clinical Investigation, The American Journal of Transplantation, JCI Insight, Blood and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. 

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate who has a recent PhD degree. The successful applicant has a strong background in immunology and at least one experimental paper in a peer reviewed journal. The applicant should be familiar with cellular and molecular immunological techniques, in particular flow cytometry, primary cell isolation and in vitro cell culture. Experience in bulk and single-cell gene expression profiles would be preferred. The candidate needs to be self-motivated, is expected to contribute intellectually to research projects and needs to be able to work independently as well as a member of a research team.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
