Research Support Associate

Job Description

RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 1, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL)-AgeLab, to support human subject data collection and clerical data management. Will support research staff on projects related to vehicle technology, transportation, and aging. Responsibilities include assisting with data collection in laboratory, simulation, field, and naturalistic experiments; assisting with video, questionnaire, and qualitative data coding; and organizing data across a variety of research projects and datasets.  Responsibilities include recruiting research subjects for a wide range of studies; greeting and directing incoming human subjects; explaining experiments to the participants and answering questions; on-road, in-vehicle, and remote training of human subjects; conducting interviews with human subjects; validating transcriptions of audio-recorded interviews; assisting with data collection; maintaining and tracking digital surveys; maintaining electronic records; maintaining and tracking a research vehicle fleet (e.g., driving to service appointments, vehicle prep, vehicle setting recording); assessing equipment needs and scheduling maintenance/repairs; maintaining vendor relationships and equipment service contracts/records; conducting primary coding of video and audio data; and performing other tasks/duties as requested.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; experience in some aspect of administrative assistance, research support, or similar activity; meticulous attention to detail; strong problem-solving, time management, communication, and organization skills; ability to quickly learn new software/interfaces and troubleshoot minor technical problems; experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook); and a valid, current, U.S. driver’s license.  Seek a team player who can handle multiple priorities from multiple sources and perform accurately under time pressure and frequent interruptions.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree in communications, psychology, social science, or related field; knowledge of Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Dropbox; and experience working with qualitative data.  Job #22779-3
