Engagement Manager, Initiative on the Digital Economy (IDE)

Job Description

ENGAGEMENT MANAGER, INITIATIVE ON THE DIGITAL ECONOMY (IDE), Sloan School of Management, to join a dynamic, fast-growing initiative addressing the impact of digital technology on business, the economy, and society.  Will lead activities and strategizing related to fundraising, events management, marketing and communications, and overall operations.  Will have a leading role in developing and implementing strategies to raise funds, primarily from corporations; identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of stakeholders; manage relationships in partnership with MIT’s development offices; partner with the offices of Research Administrative Services,  Recording Secretary, and General Counsel to negotiate and manage agreements; contribute to marketing strategy by creating original content for the website, online IDE digital community, collateral, and social media; manage and deliver coordinated communication with constituencies, including emails, invitations, queries, event announcements, etc.; organize and develop strategy conceptualizing key events, manage budgets, oversee logistics, etc.; project manage grant-funded research; and perform operations, strategy, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least three years’ relevant experience, preferably working with senior executives; familiarity with academic research in economics, information technology, and management; excellent event planning, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills; general knowledge of technology and business and an interest in being at the cutting edge of understanding how technology impacts business, the economy, and society; and comfort leading and working as a member of a team with an all-hands-on-deck approach.  Must be able to multitask, solve problems on the fly, and work independently in a dynamic, fast-growing environment; and work closely and effectively with the IDE team, other MIT partners, and external stakeholders.  PREFERRED:  MBA and fundraising experience.  Job #22648-8
