Postdoctoral Associate (in digital biomarkers and interventions for older adults)

Job Summary

Prof. Tanzeem Choudhury and Prof. Deborah Estrin are inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in digital biomarkers and interventions for older adults (in particular in the context of loneliness and social isolation for individuals with MCI). The postdoc will be based at Cornell Tech, in New York City, and have many opportunities for collaboration with clinicians and with Cornell’s large network of researchers in the CREATE  center directed by Dr. Sara Czaja. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to: 

  • Development/adaptation of digital biomarkers for detecting social isolation/loneliness based on patient generated data from wearables and other sources (vocal biomarkers)
  • Integration with just in time and personalized digital interventions.
  • Study design and IRB development
  • Background research, publication and proposal collaboration. 

This is a full-time position for 1-year with possibility of extension. The postdoc is expected to work a hybrid schedule with some days onsite each week. Schedule to be determined with supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in information science, computer science, or a related field. Previous research experience applying patient generated data and wearable devices to health is highly desirable, as is a strong interest in real-world implementation and impact. The applicant should have a record of significant research accomplishments as evidenced by work experience and publications in top-tier journals and conferences in computer science, information science, health informatics, or related fields.

Pay Range:

$54,840.00 - $75,000.00

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.

  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)

  • Unique applicable skills.
