Position Summary
This position will involve molecular biology and biochemistry techniques to interrogate function signaling pathways in cancer biology. The applicant will need basic knowledge of cell and molecular biology along with general college lab experience. No formal cancer biology work is required as a pre-requisite for this position. The applicant will be trained in multiple lab techniques relevant to cancer biology research including cell culture, DNA and RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, immunoblot analysis, and bioinformatics. The applicant will work closely with a large team of technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in the lab.
This position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
• Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
• Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
• Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
• Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge is essential.
• Python/R-scripting experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
• Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
• Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years.

Salary Range
$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
