Job Description

Job Title

Job Description

The Strategic Content team creates digital experiences that inform the general public, campus community, alumni, parents, and the news media of the University’s strategic priorities (faith, teaching, research, internationalization, DEI), and the work being done to achieve them. Strategic Content is seeking a Social Media Specialist to help grow the University’s presence on existing and emerging digital platforms. Reporting to the Senior Social Media Manager, this position will have day-to-day responsibility for developing and disseminating content that speaks to key University strategic priorities, as well as monitoring online conversation to identify opportunities and threats to the University and its reputation. They will operate the main University accounts, as well as the new Internal Communications social media presence, and other platforms managed by the Office of Public Affairs and Communications.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the principles of effective online communication on various social media platforms, and an ability to adapt to the constant changes these platforms make in their products. In addition, this position will serve as a key member of the University’s crisis response team. On occasion, they will have access to extremely sensitive information, and must be able to conduct themselves in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with the utmost discretion.

Responsibilities:

The Social Media Specialist will also capture and/or curate photography, short-form video, and other content that conveys the student experience as well as Notre Dame’s unique position as a Catholic research institution, and create graphics and other visual assets to aid in this endeavor. At times, this position will collaborate with various internal stakeholders including students, alumni, faculty, staff and College partners to facilitate thoughtful and dynamic storytelling that both informs and inspires.

Monitoring - Monitor, evaluate and report on social media activity and conversation around Notre Dame. This position must have a keen sense for identifying issues of concern before they are widely known, and will at times interact with Division leadership to make them aware of pending issues.
