What we want

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Cell Biology and Genetics - LIU Lab team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, is responsible for carrying out cutting edge, sophisticated research on stem cells and immune modulation. The level of skill required include all routine skills for stem cell biology and immune modulation using mouse models. The scope of responsibility include research, facility maintenance and collaboration, laboratory management, and other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • PhD relevant to biomedical research.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in the fields of mesenchymal stem cells, tissue-resident macrophages, and immune modulation.

  • Experience in research of mesenchymal stem cells, tissue-resident macrophages, and immune modulation.

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise and knowledge of mouse models, histology, immunofluorescent staining, microscope imaging and analyses, flow cytometry, western blot, qRT-PCR, molecular cloning, bioinformatics.

Responsibilities:

  • Research on cultured cells: Carry out cutting edge, sophisticated research on the application of mesenchymal stem cells and tissue-resident macrophages cultured in vitro .

  • Research on animal models: Carry out cutting edge, sophisticated research on the development, homeostasis, and regeneration of salivary glands in mouse models.

  • Facility maintenance and Collaboration: Cooperate with other members of the laboratory staff in maintaining instruments and facilities of the IRM. Collaborate with other researchers/doctors to perform research on the area of expertise.

  • Scientific writing: Prepare research data for publication and presentations at scientific meetings.

  • Laboratory management: Order reagents and help managing the laboratory. Performs other duties as assigned.
