Post-Doctoral Researcher Associate, Entrepreneurial and Innovation Strategies

Job Description

About the Opportunity

About the D’Amore-McKim School of Business:

The D’Amore-McKim School of Business offers a unique model of business education that purposely blends innovative classroom learning with real-world business applications. Its students explore cutting-edge theory with professors, fusing knowledge with learning experiences that include cooperative education or corporate residency, study abroad, and community service. Similarly, the school’s resulting connections with the corporate world influence its research agendas, which, in turn, shape innovative new business practices. This synergy enables D’Amore-McKim students to become successful business leaders who are both thinkers and doers, and thus highly qualified to think critically and leave their mark on the global business world.

About the opportunity:

The D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in the recently created REIS Lab (Research Lab on Entrepreneurial and Innovation Strategies). The REIS Lab is hosted at the Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) Group but it pulls together Northeastern scholars from all schools who conduct research in these topics, with the purpose of fostering, funding, and disseminating Northeastern research across the university and beyond.

The REIS Lab provides researchers with a forum to discuss and coordinate ongoing research, spark new research ideas, and find collaborators across Northeastern’s global campuses. For practitioners, REIS provides a safe space to bring their challenges and engage with researchers and educators on ways to improve the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems they are part of. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that may be held for one or two years depending on needs and qualifications. The start date is flexible but preferable between July and September 2023; applicants must have completed a doctorate in management or a related discipline (E.g. economics, industrial engineering, sociology) prior to beginning the position. The salary is competitive with other postdoctoral programs, and postdoctoral research associates have access to University health care plans.

Responsibilities:

During the employment, the associate is expected to be in residence, work with faculty in the E&I Group and faculty from other groups and schools affiliated to the REIS Lab. The work might entail working on specific research projects, helping write research grants, helping with outreach efforts to the business and alumni community to explore possible partnerships and collaborations. Associates are also expected to teach two courses a year and participate in E&I and REIS Lab research seminars and other intellectual activities. The associate will be situated in the E&I Group and have access to the broader scholarly resources of DMSB and Northeastern University.

Qualifications:

Required: - Recent Ph.D. graduate with a Ph.D. in Management or related field (E.g. economics, industrial engineering, sociology). Desired: - Strong training in quantitative or qualitative methods. - Experience creating, polishing, or using large databases. - Excellent writing skills
