Position Qualification
Position Summary | Immediate opening for a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join a neuroimmunology and neurovirology group to study HIV induced neuropathology and develop strategies for viral eradication from central nervous system using a novel mouse model. Experience in HIV-1 biology and disease pathogenesis is helpful but not mandatory. To accelerate established efforts, team requires the candidate to partner with on-site scientists with virological, animal model and neuroscience expertise. The program was the first to develop a novel humanized mouse model for the studies of HIV brain infection. The overarching goal is to understand the HIV neuropathogenesis using the new mouse model and to develop HIV cure therapies. |

Required Qualifications | Ph.D. in immunology, virology, neuroscience or related field |
Supplemental Qualifications | Experience in basic molecular biology, immunology and histochemistry techniques is required. Experience in HIV-1 biology and disease pathogenesis is helpful but not mandatory. PCR, qPCR, immuno cytochemistry, western blot, Cell culture. research experience with mice would be desirable. The candidate should have basic understanding virology and immunology, and knowledge in neuroscience is preferred. Providing oversight and troubleshooting in basic and applied immunology, cell biology and molecular biology is required that include, but not limited to, flow cytometry, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, RT-qPCR, cell culture, virus production, viral titration and immunocytochemistry. The ability to work independently and cooperatively is essential. Candidates must have good writing and communication skills.
