Description

The Instructional Specialist work with students with intellectual disabilities in Project SAINT (Student Access and Inclusion Together). This program provides an inclusive college experience, which consists of academics, career preparation, and independent living skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Evaluate and advise PT instructors on appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities
  • Instruct, co-instruct, and create curriculum for classes in basic literacy and vocational preparation classes
  • Collect data for incoming students with disabilities
  • Assist with grant reporting and documentation
  • Provide formal testing and post-testing for students with disabilities
  • Participate in marketing and communications for Project SAINT, including interviews and monitoring the SAINT Facebook page
  • Assist SAINT students with job-seeking and completing job applications
  • Meet weekly with current SAINT students for portfolio development, resume development, counseling, goal setting, and other assistance
  • General program and technical support, including advising SAINT team members and communicating with outside vendors
  • Hold workshops on a variety of topics including self-case, communication, interviewing skills, relationships, etc.
  • Collaborate with other Project SAINT specialists as-needed
  • May supervise Student Mentors and Adults with Disabilities on internships
  • May be the Alumni Community Liaison for graduates and near-graduates of Project SAINT
  • Attend conferences and training sessions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Reports to: Coordinator, Adult Basic Education

Qualifications

Required:   A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an Associate’s degree and 2+ years of related experience working with individuals with disabilities in the area of career readiness.
Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred:  Experience instructing diverse populations and computer skills.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization.
