Intramural Official (STUDENT/WORKSTUDY)
Job Description
Summary
The Department of Recreational Services is seeking students for part-time intramural officiating positions. Officials will facilitate a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for all program participants. There will be opportunities to officiate season long sports, tournaments, and help with special events. Shifts will take place on weekday evenings, during the fall and winter semesters. Hourly wage will start at $14/hour, with an increase planned in the fall. Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities*
- Enforcing rules and regulations for intramural sporting events
- Checking in participants on scorecard and verifying eligibility status
- Accurately record scores, fouls, and sportsmanship ratings
- Ensuring a high level of sportsmanship at all times and penalize unsportsmanlike behaviors
- Setting up and breaking down activity area when needed
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of rules and regulations for each sport
- Attending required meetings and trainings
Required Qualifications*
- Current UM-Flint Student
Desired Qualifications*
- Knowledge of sports and rules for those sports
- Eagerness to learn and grow within recreational sports
