Job Description

Responsibilities*

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking student staff to help create a welcoming and safe environment in the Recreation Center. Openings include Front Counter Attendant/Cashier and Weight Room Attendant for *both spring/summer and fall semesters*.  Shifts may be days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, depending on availability.  Hourly wage begins at $13/hour, with an automatic increase to $15/hour planned for this fall.  Responsibilities include:

  • Front Counter Attendant/Cashier 
    • Check in patrons at front counter.
    • Greet patrons and assist with providing answers to questions.
    • Process sales of guest passes and resale items.
    • Check out and organize sports equipment.
    • Enforce facility policies. 
  • Weight Room Attendant
    • Provide on-site supervision of weight room to ensure patron safety.
    • Light cleaning and regular checks of cardio room and indoor track.
    • Greet patrons and assist with providing answers to questions.
    • Enforcement of facility policies.
    • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current UM-Flint student.
  • Weight Room only: ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Work study award for the current or upcoming academic semester.  

Background Screening
