Job Summary

Reconcile all cash accounts, monitor cash daily, positive pay, prepare interdepartmental charges, prepare monthly sales tax report, prepare unclaimed property, print checks, and record Midland College Foundation donations and check requests.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar degree, with at least 9 hours in accounting. Alternatively, 30 hours of college credit with at least 3 hours in accounting and a minimum of two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or banking with complex reconciliation experience
Computer literacy to include proficiency with Microsoft Excel
10-key by touch

Preferred Qualifications

Non-Profit or Governmental experience
Sales Tax experience
Unclaimed Property experience

Essential Functions

Monitor cash balances daily, including positive pay and bank balances
Reconcile all cash accounts, maintain related check register and check logs
Interface Student Billing System (Cash Receipts and Student Refunds) for both credit and Continuing Education to the Fiscal system; balancing deposits at the time of posting
Interface Payroll system to Fiscal system, balancing edits and postings to information provided by the Payroll department
Prepare daily cash balance report and assist Director of Accounting with CD maturity schedules etc.
Maintain voiding checks and reissues
Audit petty cash accounts
Prepare interdepartmental charges for photocopies, media charges, and supplies
Assist departments with questions with respect to account balances, etc.
Prepare journal entries for corrections and for posting errors
Print Accounts Payable, Student Refund, and Midland College Foundation checks on a backup basis
Prepare monthly sales tax report
Perform monthly End of Month processing and report printing
Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
Reconcile monthly property tax report
Maintain Foundation accounts under the direction of the Director of Accounting and Associate Director of Accounting
Record Foundation donations and enter invoices
Prepare unclaimed property reports and maintain subsidiary of unclaimed checks
Assign long distance codes
Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Use of manual dexterity
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
The person in this position needs to occasionally move from office to other locations on campus
Office setting
Duties indoors and some outdoors
Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events

Security Sensitivity

All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary

$48,000 per year (annualized salary)

Max Salary

$58,000 per year (annualized salary)

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
