General Summary
Assist the Program Director in the management of disciplines within each school under supervision of the Dean. The nation�s most prestigious recognition of Community College Excellence, the Aspen Institute�s Aspen Prize, awarded Odessa College its Rising Star Award in 2017, which ranked Odessa College among the top five in the nation for improving and advancing student achievement out of 1100 eligible institutions.
Specific Position Duties
1. Assist the Program Director in the management of day to day operations of the department;
2. Assist the Program Director in the coordination of programs in the department;
3. Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field;
4. Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college including CollegeNOW� Academy (Dual Credit) classes;
5. Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners;
6. Provides students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.;
7. Administers assessments which are appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall grasp of course objectives;
8. By various ways and means of instructing students, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn;
9. Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity;
10. Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings, labs, and any other scheduled instructional activities;
11. Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner;
12. Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means;
13. Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the department chair;
14. Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the department chair;
15. Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community;
16. Maintains individual student advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements;
17. Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for department programs;
18. Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service.
19. Assists the Program Director with the schedule build for the discipline;
20. Assists the Program Director in ensuring compliance with instructional practices;
21. Assist the Program Director in managing, budgeting, and ordering supplies;
22. Assist the Program Director in scheduling department meetings and maintaining minutes to submit to the Dean of the School;
23. Assist the Program Director in leading class observations for returning faculty;
24. Assist the Program Director in supporting faculty in Core Program Outcome documentation and assist in assessment;
25. Assist the Program Director with hiring adjuncts and overseeing adjunct support plan;
26. Assists the Program Director in initial signature for forms (leave, incompletes, student schedule changes, etc.);
27. Assists the Program Director in overseeing curricular development;
28. Attend meetings as scheduled;
29. Assist the Program Director in addressing student complaints;
30. Attend completion ceremonies, such college graduation;
31. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
ASE Certifications and relevant technical training, certification, or experience in the discipline.
OR
Associate Degree and relevant technical training, certification, or experience in the discipline and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Must be able to become ASE Certified within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
An associate degree in automotive technology or related field;
At least one year of teaching experience.
