Urology

Full Time

Job Summary

The Bruno Laboratory at UC San Francisco is seeking a Staff Research Associate to join our growing research team.

The Bruno lab leverages synthetic biology and high-throughput functional genetic screens to expand our ability to interrogate and manipulate the immune system. Our focus is on the peptides associated with MHC molecules, collectively referred to as the immunopeptidome, and using unique genetic tools to explore and exploit T-cell interactions with disease-specific MHC peptides. Ultimately, we aim to use our expertise to improve existing, and develop new, immunotherapies for cancer, autoimmunity, and infectious disease.

The Research Associate will be a valued member of the laboratory that makes key contributions to both group and individual projects as well as performs broader laboratory support functions. The ideal candidate would have a solid foundation in biology and common laboratory techniques such as cloning, flow cytometry and tissue culture. They would be expected to master screening for MHC-I peptides via EpiScan: go.nature.com/3GzQsaD . They will report to, and work closely with, the lab head under general supervision. The Bruno lab values diversity and encourages candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.

Additional duties would depend on experience, and include, but not be limited to the below:

  • Design new experiments and provide input on future research directions.
  • Collect, collate, and analyze data.
  • Keep detailed experimental and observational records.
  • Create progress reports and contribute to manuscripts.
  • Assist with lab administrative duties such as supply/reagent ordering.
  • Generate general lab reagent stocks.
