Established in 2004 as the fourth college in the Los Rios Community College District, Folsom Lake College (FLC) is a vibrant teaching and learning institution serving over 8,800 ethnically and racially diverse students each semester. Our College awards Associate in Arts or Science degrees, as well as Associate Degrees for Transfer, which guarantee transfer into California State Universities and numerous private and non-profit four-year colleges and universities. Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean of Equity, & Institutional Effectiveness will be responsible for leading college-wide efforts to improve institutional practices, by leading work that fosters a culture of continuous program improvement, addressing structural barriers that produce educational inequities, and implementing high impact practices to increase student success and overall college effectiveness. The Dean will align the institutional equity agenda with research and data (quantitative and qualitative) to focus efforts to meet strategic goals and success outcomes. This individual oversees the development, implementation, and/or sustainability of the college’s planning processes, and has primary responsibility for professional development programming for faculty and classified professionals at main campus and centers. The Dean also serves as the college’s Equity Officer and Accreditation Liasion Officer.

Assignment Responsibilities

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Organizing, directing, and implementing a comprehensive institutional planning process; assures that the college planning process is coordinated with the district planning process and complies with accreditation standards.
  • Overseeing the annual and strategic planning and assessment processes to implement an institution-wide cycle of assessment and planning throughout the College that results in continuous improvement.
  • Coordinating college equity efforts and serving as Equity and Title IX Officer.
  • Assuming leadership and responsibility for the development and evaluation of assigned faculty, and staff.
  • Planning, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive professional development program for faculty, classified staff, and managers; working with a variety of advisory committees; conducting required needs assessments and evaluations; preparing required reports.
  • Coordinating the college’s efforts to secure external funding through the competitive grants process; providing assistance to staff seeking such funding; assuring an effective college and district review process.
  • Serving as Accreditation Liasion Officer with the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges; assuring the college is in compliance with accrediting guidelines and procedures; planning and directing accreditation activities.
  • Maintaining information on college standing and participatory governance committees; working with the various constituencies to assure that appointments are consistent with college guidelines; disseminating information on committee guidelines and membership.
  • Overseeing the design and dissemination of college-adopted accountability measures and assuring coordination of these measures with planning and accrediting activities.
  • Preparing unit plans and annual reports in areas of primary responsibility.
  • Developing and monitoring budgets and expenditures associated with the plans.
  • Organizing, attending, and/or chairing a variety of administrative and staff meetings as required.
  • Identifying resource needs and reviewing them with appropriate administrative and management staff.
  • Promoting staff development and supporting a climate that fosters innovation and excellence.
  • Supporting a climate that promotes cultural competence and mutual respect.
  • Employing techniques such as interest-based conflict resolution and other appropriate strategies to resolve disagreements and enhance communication and cooperation among the members of the college and district communities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Have a master’s degree from an accredited institution completed by July 1, 2023.
  2. Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.
  3. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Salary

$151,276 - $184,401 annually. Salary placement determined by Los Rios salary schedule procedures. LRCCD Salary Schedules
