Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

A Faculty Assistant position is available in Dr. Eisenstein at the University of Maryland Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR) in Rockville, MD. The successful candidate will work independently to clone genes and assemble plasmids for transformation of bacteria and plants. Recombinant gene expression will be monitored with antibodies by Western blotting.

IBBR (www.ibbr.umd.edu) is a premier research institute focused on the structural and quantitative biological characterization of complex protein structure/function relationships and bio-molecular engineering and testing of novel products or platforms targeting prevention or treatment of conditions of human disease and intervention. IBBR operates state-of-the-art facilities located in the heart of the biotechnology corridor in Rockville, Maryland. The Institute is a joint research enterprise between the University of Maryland and the National Institute of Standards and Technology and has an outstanding group of scientists and engineers with long-standing track records in basic and translational research.

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. degree with some experience in molecular biology and / or biochemistry.

Additional Information:

Training is available for qualified applicants. This a 6 months appointment with possibility of renewal for another 6 months.
