The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Medical Physiology - Chakraborty team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of research experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. Looking for highly motivated candidates to be involved in cross-collaborative research projects investigating the role of lymph node metastasis and immune regulation in solid tumors. The project will involve identification of inflammatory mechanisms that promote tumor growth and distant metastasis and also identification of therapeutic drug targets that suppress tumor progression. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What you need to know

Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Requirements or Other Factors: Travel to scientific meetings domestic and abroad. (Estimated 2 meetings per year)

Required Education:

  • Appropriate doctoral degree.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology and related discipline.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Molecular biology skills, experience with mammalian cell culture, and animal models are preferred.

  • Experience with tumor xenografts, transgenic mice and confocal imaging.

  • Excellent oral or written communication skills and a strong publication record.

  • Personal or professional experience in working with people of diverse backgrounds.


Responsibilities:

  • Basic Research: Perform cellular, biochemical and mammalian tissue culture techniques, including real time PCR, Westerns, elisa, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence, work with rodent models.

  • General Lab Maintenance: Maintain and organize records readily followed by others. Oversee day-to-day laboratory activities. Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment and general cleaning of equipment and laboratory.

  • Data Analysis: Assist in preparation of data for oral and poster presentations, manuscripts and grant submissions. Present data and perform computer/software tasks as directed by the Principal Investigator.

  • Imaging: Perform Confocal imaging

  • Training: Assist in training of technical laboratory staff and supervision of Graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Lab Ordering & Scheduling: Prepare orders for laboratory supplies, maintain project schedules for day-to-day lab activities, schedule lab meetings and lab specific training. Performs other duties as assigned.
