We are seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our research teams at Indiana University (IU) – Bloomington. The postdoctoral fellow will work on a newly funded project from the Office of Naval Research focused on determining the dermal absorption of chemicals during immersions. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting the chemical analyses but is also expected to take an active role in the project that will include overseeing the project (i.e., sample collection), data analysis, and manuscripts preparation.
While the appointment will be with the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs with Prof. Venier as primary supervisor, the postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Prof. Schlader at the School of Public Health. The postdoctoral fellow will be based in Bloomington, Indiana. The position is expected to last for 24 months beginning as early as September 1, 2023, with opportunities for an additional year of support contingent on funding. The starting data is negotiable.
Qualifications: The successful applicant will have earned a Ph.D. in environmental or analytical chemistry at the time of appointment. Experience with biological samples (i.e., blood and urine) is preferred. The successful postdoctoral fellow should have demonstrated an ability to work independently and in a collaborative and dynamic research group. Organizational proficiency and strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience in organic extraction and chemical analyses using mass spectrometry, in the analysis of persistent organic pollutants, and in data analysis is desired.
